DOW XLA™ is a revolutionary, olefin-based stretch fiber that, when blended with fibers like cotton or wool, dramatically enhances the way clothes look, last, feel and move with you. The fiber is so unique that the Federal Trade Commission in the United States granted XLA™ a new generic classification, lastol. Resistant to harsh chemicals and high heat, DOW XLA™ frees designers to turn visionary sketches into practical, yet luxurious everyday clothing, and allows yarn spinners and mills to realize significant processing efficiencies. For consumers, clothes made with XLA™ offer a soft stretch, supreme durability, ease of care and the ability to keep their color and shape wash after wash.

How is DOW XLA™ different from other stretch fibers?
Close

DOW XLA™ fiber's proprietary composition is inherently resistant to high heat and harsh chemicals making it the premium choice of stretch fiber for many apparel applications. In swimwear, XLA™ fiber is durable enough to perform after 1,000 hours exposure to chlorinated pool water providing comfortable stretch and shape retention and helps prevent bag and sag. DOW XLA™ is the only stretch fiber that can survive the intense finishing required to achieve a true non-iron finish in shirting, receiving a 4.0 DP rating. Denim retains its authentic cotton touch with the addition of only 1-3% XLA™ fiber and maintains stretch performance, even after wet processing or aggressive finishing.
